My mother was always smiling and still is at 80 years old. She had 7 children to raise on a pittance. Her and my father worked hard every day to put food on the table and a roof over our head. I don't ever remember going "without". Although, I'm sure there might have been a time or two Mom wasn't always smiling and singing but I don't recall. I think she had that song in her heart and it shot right up through her eyes cause they were always shining bright.
My brother's tried her patience more than a time or two and she always stood right by them teaching them right from wrong. She never raised her hand or her voice. Smiling, explaining and patience was and is Mom's way.
Amazing as it sounds all 7 of us turned out to be wonderful, caring, smiling parents. I encourage everyone to take the time to laugh with your family. It heals your heart. My mom took us everywhere and showed us the world. Almost all of us live a drive away from mom today. Those of us that don't do go often just to hear her laugh and see her smile.
